Content*

it's been 5 days of relief teaching and so far, i've enjoyed every minute of it. even though, on one particular day when my patience decided to hop on a bullet train to nowhere, i still enjoy being in a class and handling the kids. of course, i went home fuming mad just like Sulala did yesterday. haha. poor thing. she was assigned to handle the worst class in the school. and Miss Fizah with the "H" came to the rescue ! *grins*

the feeling of being called "Teacher" though, is the best, i must admit. haha ! they look up to you [well, some of them anyway] and constantly greet you whenever they see you. even if you're on the 2nd floor and they are like.. 2 floors up. they will still shout, "Miss Fizah !! Miss Fizah !" haha !

sad thing is, the situation in secondary schools these days are gazillion times different from what we use to grow up in. us, the "Oldies". they.. the "Young Ones", who are supposed to be the bright future generation, to propel Singapore towards better living and globalisation, aren't behaving the honourable part. i mean, come on ! even if you HATE the teacher, you should at least respect them out of the simple fact that they are OLDER than you. please, don't your mothers/ fathers teach you to respect the elderly ? isn't that a practise anymore ? or has it been a part of history all of a sudden. some things don't change. and that, my friend, is one of the vital things that should never change. ever.

kudos to those who joke about and respect the teacher at the same time. thanks. appreciate it lots ! now these are the kinds of students that teachers love to teach. you respect them, they respect you. you go against them, rebel, even after their hard work to help you back on the right track, then to heck with ya. there's really nothing much anybody can do. i know one particular kid whom i had a freaking hard time handling. i seriously thought, he just hates me you know ? well, hate me if you want. but don't you dare go against me with your verbal weapons. please, i can handle it. i've always have. it's just that, it's not right. yes, i'm a righteous kind of person, so what ? turns out, according to his form teacher, he's one tough kiddo. as figured, he has some attention-seeking problem that goes way out of hand. way wayyy out of hand. blame the parents ? i don't know. not my problem. and he doesn't want to be helped. so why bother ? right ?

on a whole lot of a lighter note, today can be considered one of the best relief teaching days i've had [though it's too early to say that haha.] had a great time "baby-sitting" this particular class. though they still make noise and act like kids, they're really funny. well some of them are. the rest were in their own "Poker" world. as usual, they went about by teasing one of their friend about his pronounciation of any word with the letter "R". cos this kid can't really pronounce it well. so, in the middle of my Sudoku game, i interrupted them and asked them to stop cos it's unfair to make fun of someone's somewhat disability. ironically, the kid being picked on didn't mind as much as i do. and i wasn't the one being picked on ! haha. the kiddo smiled and laughed even harder at their harmless jokes. and i must admit, i laughed with them as well. of course, i had to examine the poor kid's expression to get the green signal first. it was hilarious. the hilarious part was the expression of the other kiddo ! the one teasing the poor kid. he's funny lar ! in a charming way. hahah.

then i got back to my Sudoku. determined to finish my first ever Sudoku. haha. such a geek, i was.

then as i expected. they played the ever-popular [at least in the classes i took over] Guess-Miss-Fizah's-Age game. and their first guess was a painful 23 !! OUCH. that hurts. hurts BADLY. *sobs* do i look that old ? wargh~ *covers eyes and runs away*

and then, they went higher. DENGS. blergghhhh.

at long last, after they reach the number 50, they then decided to go lower than 23. *dushiak*

and finally, they didn't get a confirmed answer from me. haha ! all i said was, "definitely older than you." my usual answer to the oh-so-familiar question of, "how old are you ah, 'cher?"

haha. funny blokes.

plus met the gals from the D&T class. one by the name of Fizah as well. haha. crazy, sweet gals.

ohyea, whenever i write my name on the whiteboard at the beginning of a new class, in unison, the kids will go, "Fizah lagik !" [Fizah again !] cos Fidzo apparently calls herself Fiza. haha. in denial ah kau, Fidz ! now everyone's confused.

one cute lil kid, with his face lighting up like he just came up with a brilliant idea on how to eliminate roaches from the face of the earth, went, " HAH ! Miss Fizah ni [me], name dier ader H pat blakang ! ah....... tu pasal lar dier Happy ! yg Miss Fiza lagik satu tu [Fidz], takde H. tu pasal ah dier tak Happy. garang, you !"

hahaha. i just have to laugh at that. though not that funny. but.. laugh-able. another, nicknamed us: Miss Fiza Rock [Fidz]; Miss Fizah Cool [me].

hahahah. cuteness. and i thought i was the rock-ier one. turns out, someone else's voice is rock-ier than me ! hehe !

anyways, can't wait for the pay ! heheh. i want go out with the BFF ! got money, can go out ! weeeee ! want to watch Mission Impossible 3 ! X-MEN 3 ! Pirates of the Caribbean 2 ! Da Vinci Code ! anything !!!

ohyea, good to hear that Rad's back ! she scared me by putting the mere 3 words at her blog the other time. hope you're ok ya Rad. though i'm a always a lil late in knowing what's going on in your life, i still care okie. take care and meet you buncha crazygals soon !

make lemonade !

-_- who's the dork who came up with that one ?

What animal would best
suit your personality?

A PENGUIN.

You are the penguin. You take life in its stride, not letting the big issues of the world stand in your way. You like spending time with large groups of friends and you are considered a bit of a socialite jumping back and forth between different groups of friends. However, you still have time for your family and remain close to them.

The Moment of Truth*

i haven't been in touch with my friends lately.

i've been turning down outing proposals and i have my own reasons.

no. it's not that i don't want to hang out with you guys. what i love more than anything in the world is to hang out with my dear friends, having fun, joke around and just forget about the harsh reality. even for just one second.

but i can't. i just can't.

there's just so many things happening around me and i'm so frustrated at myself for not being able to solve them. they're not my problems. they're other people's problems. people whom i love dearly. so if they're facing a problem, then that problem is mine. that's me. i'm like that.

and the only thing i hate about money is my dad's money. i'm not a kid anymore. i'm old enough to be aware of what's going on. if you can't afford to pay for whatever thing that i'm taking right now, just say it. i'll get my own money myself. just don't be so hush-hush about it. i guess it's a dad thing, you know ? not wanting their children to worry about anything. well, the fact is.. i hate it when people hide things from me. especially if it involves me. so. i vow to pay for the mandarin classes, the driving lessons and get myself a freaking job. something to do with my course, of course.

that's just one of my problems. and no, i don't need your sympathy nor do i want your help. after this, i'm not talking about any of my problems. i'm just here to say that it's not you. it's me. it's not that i don't want to go out. it's I CAN'T.

i can't help but feeling like everyone thinks i'm the bad guy here. it's in the blog entries. i can take a hint. it's also in their minds, in the words they say.

cos i don't think i am.

wait. i know that i'm not.

i'm just misunderstood.

all i ask is.. understand me.

and i love you guys. with every little myocardial [heart] cells of mine. *hugs*

Idola Amerika !!*

that was a close call. again.

finally ! my prayers have been answered ! Bucky finally got the ride back home ! yah i know ! it sure took it a looooong time for him to get the axe, eh ? finally finally !

and i'm still wondering why the hell Ace is still in the competition !! i mean. seriously. is he that good looking ? i mean. please. his looks are soo not enough to blind America from the fact that he stinks. open your ears, people ! he sings through his nose pretending his Justin Timberlake. please k. please.

eh i still wonder why lar he's still singing on stage ! i need an answer to that ! yea sure he has a great smile (i think) but please. you're not going to see his smile on radio, hello~ besides, is his smile worth the excruciating pain that you're going to endure while watching him sing ?

all i know is Chris ROCKS and Elliot is so there !

HEE.

ok don't mind my mindless chatter. i'm just bored. and pissed. especially at my brother. don't ask. i'm going to have to type a thousand word entry on that. he's such a pain in the behind. ergh !

anyways, it's been a long time since i religiously followed every American Idol episode. wait. actually.. this is the first time i'm following American Idol. haha. yeps. i couldn't care less about the previous seasons. ok well the main reason why i'm watching this season is because, i have the time. haha. and secondly of course, all the contenders left are all super great singers ! except for Stinking Ace, that is.

i guess if it goes down to Elliot and Ace in the bottom 2, if Stinking Ace stays.. it just have to be because of his looks (what's so great about that again ?). so Elliot would leave (*BAWLS !*) BUT with dignity. i mean, yea he has to go sometime. he's not the best, some people might say. *shrugs* well, at least he has dope voice. one which Ace didn't and will never have. *smiles*

Reminiscing*

suddenly i remembered the conversation i had with the Springfield kids. it went something like this:

me: so.. awak seme da prepare belum untuk awak nyer Oral besok ? [so, have you guys prepared for your Oral exams tomorrow ?]

kid 1: eh cikgu. Oral bukan besok lar. Oral next week. [teacher, Oral's next week. not this week]

kid 2: eh ape kau meraban, slenge. Oral besok lar. mimpi eh kau ? [eh what are crapping about, silly ? Oral's tomorrow. dreaming, huh.]

kid 3: ntah. tu ape tu pat whiteboard. Tuesday ape. besok ape ! [yah lor. look at the whiteboard. Tuesday mah !]

kid 1: eh next week pon ader Tuesday ape. kau ingat this week je ader Tuesday ? [next week also got Tuesday mah. you think only this week got Tuesday ?]

me: *smiles* sudah2 ape ni gaduh2 ? yg penting saye tau awak ader Oral. betul ? [what's all this fighting. more importantly, there's an Oral examination. right ?]

kids: ye cikgu ! [yes teacher !]

kid 3: tapi Oral ape nak belajar sey. bacer aje ape. and cerita2 pat cikgu tu aje ape. [but what's there to study for Oral ? talk only what.]

me: abes awak confident boleh dapat distinction ah ni. [so you're confident that you can get a distinction ?]

kid 3: eh insyaAllah. kalau Tuhan izin kan. DAN~ dgn cikgu nyer doa *points at me with a cheeky smile*.. insyaAllah ah cikgu ! [if God permits and with your blessings, i will if God permits ah teacher !]

me: ah insyaAllah pon.. insyaAllah. tapi kalo awak tak berusaha.. mcm mane Tuhan nak tolong awak ? [yea. if God permits. but, if you don't work for it, how is God going to help you ?]

kid 1: eh tapi cikgu. saye sembahyang *shows seven fingers* TUJUH [he made a heavy emphasis on that] kali sehari cikgu ! orang seme sembahyang lima. saye TUJUH ! mesti pass punyaaa. [but teacher, i pray SEVEN times a day whilst others pray FIVE. sure pass !]

me: yg fardhu LIMA je. yg awak melebih2 tu buat ape ? [the must-do ones are only the five prayers. do extra fardhu ones for what ?]

kid 1: ehhh bukan cikgu.. saye da taubat cikgu~ saye sembahyang tahajjud, sunat.. ah tu seme ah. abes doa sti pass nyer.. [eh no, teacher. i repented ! i pray Tahajjud, Sunat and all that. ask for help, sure pass.]

kid 4: ah yela tu ! taubat ehhh. TAUBAT SEYYY. [ah yea right. repent huh ? REPENT SEY !]

me: oh kalo gitu.. tak yah blajar pon leh pass ah ni ? [ok, so. even after all that.. no need to study, still can pass ?]

kid 1: eh takde laa. kene blajar ahh. [nola. must study ah.]

me: ahh. tau takpe. abes ? tak blajar ? [and then ?]

kid 2: ntahhh kau ni. ckp jer lebih. [yah lor. talk so much.]

me: *points at kid 2* ckp org. abes awak ? [say people.. then yourself ?]

kid 2: heh. *sheepish smile*

me: k. awak. *points at kid 1 [a.k.a Gigi]* meh sini practise untuk Oral. [ok you. come here practise for Oral.]

kid 1: tapi cikgu, saye takde buku. [but teacher, i don't have the textbook.]

me: yg awak pegi skola tak bawak buku tu ape hal ? *takes book from kid 4* pinjam eh. ah nah~ *gives kid 1* bacer ni. [why did you go to school with no books ?]

kid 1: alamakk. saye ni.. pemalu siket cikgu. [oh mother. i'm.. a bit of a shy person, teacher.]

class: *groans*

kid 6: *teased kid 1* saya suka main bola hari2 main bola. eh salah~ gigi saya sungguh besar- [i like to play soccer. everyday, play soccer. eh wrong. my teeth are so big-]

kid 1: *cuts in* saya sungguh gemuk. suka makan banyak2 !!-

me: *cuts in* eh da sudah lar ! bacer je. sini. [enough ! just read. come here.]

kid 1: *stares at the excerpt for about 3 mins*

me: eh. ni tau huruf ke tak ni. [do you know how to read the alphabets or not ?]

kid 1: ehhh tau.. *stares some more* [yes i know.]

me: *points at word* k-e-m KEM, b-a-n-g BANG. kembang~

kid 1: *continues* b-u BU, n-g-a NGA. BUNGA ~ yay !

me: *stares* main2 plaks si dekni [kidding around only.]

kid 1: kkkkk. saye bacer betul2. *continue reading*[kk i read properly]

and the class continues..

plus, i remembered lecturing them:

me: awak ni.. org2 melayu. belajar lar melayu betul2. takmo malu kan masyarakat melayu ! [you guys are malay students. don't embarass the malay society !]

and got this comment: hidup melayu MAJU melayu, CIKGU !! [long live malays and move forward, malays !]

ok i don't know how to translate that. translating them drains the energy out of me. you must treat me coffee ah, Ben. haha. =p

anyways, ironic isn't it ? me, whose B3 grade for the malay paper is considered my highest achievement for any malay paper, lecturing on the kids on how not to embarass the malay society.

haha. go figure.

ahhh~! i want to RT again !

What a Relief !*

was combing Gudik's hair and getting her ready for school when Fidz called. Springfield Sec wants Relief Teachers !! and i had to reach there around 7.40am when i actually got the news at 7 ?!

actually, i was contemplating on whether or not i should go and fill in for the teachers. i mean.. 1stly, i applied RT for primary schools not secondary schools ! and 2ndly, nervous lar ! i'm totally new to this RT thingy ok ! so yea.. i figured i'd get some experience. after all. i need the money. haha !

so i said ok, bathed, got dressed and got out of the house by 7.15 [express you ! by the way, i never thought that i am capable of such express-ness. haha !]

waited for Fidz and Sula before heading into the school.

*heart goes lup-dup, lup dup*

entered the General Office..

*lup dup, lup dup still*

got the timetable.

*lup dup, lup dup again*

and got the lightest one ! hee ! 1st timer mahh. give chance lor ! hehe~ and i was assigned to relief teach a Malay class.

-_- i mean, me ? Malay class ? you have got to be freaking kidding me. you know.. me and Malay, just don't click. really.

luckily it was only for 2 periods. since mine started later. i followed Sula for her 1st class. yah, 2 relief teachers in one classroom. haha. anyways, that went well. though couldn't answer some questions the kids asked [Malay larr. i sucked at it k.]

had our break before i went up to the class i was assigned to. it was a sec 4 class by the way. yea, i'm doomed.

*heart goes lup-dup, lup dup*

and to my oh-so-unpleasant surprise, there were several kids outside the corridor making a hell of a noise. there were 2 teachers, dealing with this girl.. and the rest stood and watched, talked, shouted, screamed or whatever they were doing. it was horrendous. and i stood there thinking, shhooooot. is this the class i'm going to teach ?! and sadly, the answer to my question was a "yes".

after all that commotion was done, i finally entered the room and it was half-empty. oh well. so yea introduced myself and settled them down. to do that, several phrases were used:

"OI. DIAM." [oi shut up]

"eh kau duduk sini diam-diam !" [eh you sit here and keep quiet !]

"eh mane kau nak pergi ?! nanti kau pulak hilang. mari sini !" [where do you think you're going ? later you'll stray off somewhere]

and most often used: SHUT UP !

yeaaaa. i knowww.. i'm not supposed to use some harsh words. but HECK. that's the only way they will listen. haha~

ooo. i have a fierce streak ah ! sungguh ku tak sangka~ haha~

the class wasn't that bad after all. well.. this class has a mix of everything. the anti-socials. the cheeky arab. the gayboy. the Gigi [teeth]. the miss-know-it-all. the life sciences enthusiasts. the sorority girls and of course, the rebel [who was taken away by a teacher, thank the Almighty God !]

i wasn't assign to give them anything to do so i figured since they will be having their Malay oral the next day, i asked a few students to come up and read some excerpts. it was freaking funny. the jokes they made, i mean. sighs, still remember those secondary school days. goshhh. miss those old times and the companions that make the memories so unforgettable.. sighs.

ok back to RT. a group of students at the back were playing a game called "OO7 Bang". it was freaking funny lor. though i didn't join them. ended up talking to the other kids. hehe.

so yea, it wasn't that bad. the kids were not as rebellious as i thought. BIG RELIEF there.

after that, tagged along Fidz's class before tagging Sula's. brought the kids to the library and we got acquainted with these 3 sweet girls. and we played several games like "What's Next ?", "Bang. Bang. Who Died ?", "Think Out of The Box" [this one i liiiike ! hah~], "Black Magic" [one which i still can't figure out how the game works ! damn !], "This is 1, This is 2, This is 3, This is 4, What is 5 ?" and "How Many Meh-Meh [sheeps] Jumped Over The Wall ?"

it was damn hilarious lorrrr. these girls are so sweet and fun to hang out with ! and of course, played some Teka Teki and they so totally enjoyed them though the Teka Teki(s) were really laaamee. haha.

all in all. it had been fun. hope i can do this again ! and i wanna get the sweet girls' class ! haha~ so call me~~ haaaaa.

Stranded*

my dad is the epitome of fickle-mindedness.

remember the conversation i had with my dad. and he insisted on me finding a job instead of staying at home ?

well. i did find some jobs on the straits times. called several people and got comments like, "oh we want chinese people" and "sorry, we've already got people who called earlier".

and then i finally resorted to calling NTUC income. asked me several questions on how many months i am able to work.. blah blah.. and will be contacted as soon as there's a suitable vacancy. soon after, the HR called. and of course, i got an interview due the next morning (friday morning).

and so, after telling my dad. he went like, "why piza go and take admin ? got nothing to do with your course, right ?"

and i went like, "yah. but it's for only 2-3 months."

he went, "don't need la. since it has nothing to do with your course, might as well do something more meaningful like.. sign up for driving and.. mandarin courses."

and i just said, "huh ? ah okla."

there's no use arguing. he will always win lor.

now i know where i got my fickle-mindedness from.

wargh father~ what do you actually want ?!

i was a bit pissed at 1st cos i was really looking forward to my 1st actual job ! but then, after that, did some thinking and listed several disadvantages.
1. i want a job that has some scientific elements in it. (pharmacy stuffs, preferably)
2. job attire: office wear. nah-ah. no way. you know how many office wear i have in my wardobe ? definitely less than yours.
3. the place is really inaccessible. go check online for the map. (yes, i checked online cos i was very eager to start working). plus.. it's Bras Basah Road. i think my everyday bus fare is gonna exceed my pay lor.

advantage ?
1. experience ?

so yea, i guess my dad's right after all.

great. i guess he won't be bugging me to find a job anytime soon.

though i'm keeping my ears and eyes peeled for any good ones.

-----

anyways, yesterday was of course.. the all popular April Fools' day..

i played a trick on my brother. i pulled the oldest trick in the book !

me: *gasps* sani ! ape tu pat blakang kau ?!
sani: *ducks* MANE MANE MANE ?!
me: *laughs like crazy/ almost fell onto the ground* APRIL FOOLS ! *laughs some more*
sani: OTAK LAR. INGAT KAN LIPAS !

dengs ! kalo lipas aku yg lari DOINKS. *shakes head*

it was DAMN hilarious. you should have seen his face ! his expression ! gosh, it was PRICELESS ! hahahah. ok he's so gonna kill me. haha but HECK. funny funny !

then later in the afternoon.. he started creating this stupid trick that goes like this:

sani: kak izah.. *mumbles something-somethings*
me: *was busy playing the computer*
sani: kak izah ! *mumbles something-somethings*
me: ah ? *irritated*
sani: BAGUS~!
me: otak kau la.
sani: *laughs like crazy*

ok MEREPEK K. but we (my siblings and i) fell for it lots of times ! even my mum ! haha !

sani: mak mak.. *mumbles something-somethings*
mak: huh ?
sani: BAGUS~!
mak: aaahhhh merepek lagi ! gi angkat baju kau pat katil kau tu. berselerak !
sani: *was about to laugh when he frowned*
me: hahahah. tak menjadi kape !

haha. he's like that. merepek always.

anyways, yes i fell for a stupid April Fools' joke pulled by Mr Badot, Faisal. kentals kau. i didn't fall for it at first. but then, he pulled his Oscar-winning act that i believed it. dengs ! nehmind.. yesterday's your day. another day, my turn. haha~ but it wasn't funny though. GRR.

what's the use of April Fools' Day anyways ? well, i found some information on the net. [yes i'm bored. you get the point right]

"Unlike most of the other nonfoolish holidays, the history of April Fool's Day, sometimes called All Fool's Day, is not totally clear. There really wasn't a "first April Fool's Day" that can be pinpointed on the calendar. Some believe it sort of evolved simultaneously in several cultures at the same time, from celebrations involving the first day of spring.

The closest point in time that can be identified as the beginning of this tradition was in 1582, in France. Prior to that year, the new year was celebrated for eight days, beginning on March 25. The celebration culminated on April 1. With the reform of the calendar under Charles IX, the Gregorian Calendar was introduced, and New Year's Day was moved to January 1.

However, communications being what they were in the days when news traveled by foot, many people did not receive the news for several years. Others, the more obstinate crowd, refused to accept the new calendar and continued to celebrate the new year on April 1. These backward folk were labeled as "fools" by the general populace. They were subject to some ridicule, and were often sent on "fools errands" or were made the butt of other practical jokes.

This harassment evolved, over time, into a tradition of prank-playing on the first day of April. The tradition eventually spread to England and Scotland in the eighteenth century. It was later introduced to the American colonies of both the English and French. April Fool's Day thus developed into an international fun fest, so to speak, with different nationalities specializing in their own brand of humor at the expense of their friends and families.

In Scotland, for example, April Fool's Day is actually celebrated for two days. The second day is devoted to pranks involving the posterior region of the body. It is called Taily Day. The origin of the "kick me" sign can be traced to this observance.

Mexico's counterpart of April Fool's Day is actually observed on December 28. Originally, the day was a sad remembrance of the slaughter of the innocent children by King Herod. It eventually evolved into a lighter commemoration involving pranks and trickery.

Pranks performed on April Fool's Day range from the simple, (such as saying, "Your shoe's untied!), to the elaborate. Setting a roommate's alarm clock back an hour is a common gag. Whatever the prank, the trickster usually ends it by yelling to his victim, "April Fool!"

Practical jokes are a common practice on April Fool's Day. Sometimes, elaborate practical jokes are played on friends or relatives that last the entire day. The news media even gets involved. For instance, a British short film once shown on April Fool's Day was a fairly detailed documentary about "spaghetti farmers" and how they harvest their crop from the spaghetti trees.

April Fool's Day is a "for-fun-only" observance. Nobody is expected to buy gifts or to take their "significant other" out to eat in a fancy restaurant. Nobody gets off work or school. It's simply a fun little holiday, but a holiday on which one must remain forever vigilant, for he may be the next April Fool!" - adapted from http://wilstar.com/holidays/aprilfool.htm
